Hi there, and welcome to Tshirthelpdesk.com!
My name is Gary. I have been working as a brand graphic designer for 20 years now, and here I am to share my wealth of knowledge with you. I teach people to design, market, and promote their t-shirt business.
Today in this blog, we are going to talk about branding your t-shirt line. I am going to talk about looking professional and unprofessional. Therefore, I am going to mention the little things that will help your t-shirt business look comparable to other successful brands.
Now, there is nothing wrong with starting your business from a garage, kitchen, or attic. However, it is an issue to look like one.
The reason why all the t-shirts from these big brands might look more professional, attractive, high quality and, that reason is money!
Therefore, I am going to mention some techniques or steps that you can implement to stay in the competition with all the big players in the t-shirt industry without spending a lot of money.
So, let’s get started!
Brand name
The first thing that you are going to need is a brand name and get it trademarked as intellectual property.
Business cards
Once you are ready with your brand name, then you need to get some business cards.
For reference you can check my business card here:
It is in the small form factor and, they are made by a company called https://www.tkqlhce.com/click-7141529-11796997moo.com.
All of these are awesome, and at the back side, I have printed some of my t-shirt designs. The main point here is that doing some subtle details can make your brand look different, and whenever you hand over your business card to someone, it looks unique and professional.
Therefore, you must have a business card.
Postcard
These days, everything works electronically; it is a fact that not a lot of people receive postcards these days.
Hence, when you send them your postcards. It looks special, and it looks cool!
Also, you can use them as your brand tags as well.
Have a look at this postcard that I created for my old screenprinting business:
You can also create a format to add details such as a postal stamp, and the address on the backside of your postcards.
Hang Tags
The next thing that I am going to talk about is hang tags.
Now, Will a hang tag make your t-shirt designs look better?
No. But, it will help your brand to stay competitive and unique among all the big brands in the market. Also, you can add some more details. For example, you can enter discount codes, links back to your website, or at some literature to define your brand.
Now, let’s look at how you can also do this for your brand at a low cost.
Add hang tags to your t-shirts at a low cost
Things you need:
1.) Business card/hang tags or postcards
2.) 1/16” or 1/18” hole punch
3.) Tag gun
4.) A t-shirt
Steps that you need to follow:
Step 1: Take your hang tag and punch a hole at the middle of its top:
Also, if you have another big size tag along with the hang tag, then repeat the same process.
Step 2: Take your t-shirt and hold it by the bottom of its sleeve. Look for the middle of the seam of the sleeves:
Step 3: Take the tag gun and gently pass the needle through the sleeve and your hang tags at the same time, as shown below.
Now, push the trigger and, it’s done:
Once you have done your t-shirt, then you will have your t-shirt with your hang tags attached to it.
Again, I quote that there is nothing wrong with starting your t-shirt line from a garage, spare room, or maybe some extra space in the kitchen. But the problem is when you LOOK like a small business.
Hence, doing small things like having a hang tag will help you look more professional and compete with all the big players in the t-shirt industry.
Now, when you make sales, you move up a notch. Therefore, you need to focus on making your delivery and stuff look good.
Let me show you the process of creating customized mailers and boxes with your logo.
You can go to Google and check for custom boxes, and you may find them expensive. But there is a way you can make them look like these:
Now, it is necessary to be in the white and black color combination. You can choose everything as per your brand theme and aesthetics.
Create custom mailboxes and packaging boxes.
Things you need:
1.) Mailboxes
2.) Poly/Tyvek mailer envelopes
3.) Good quality stamping ink
4.) Add a large stamping pad
5.) Custom rubber stamp
Let us look at the steps that you need to follow.
Step 1: Take your packaging box and unfold it completely.
Step 2: Place your rubber stamp firmly on your stamping ink pad, then make sure that you have enough ink based on the size of your stamp:
Step3: Put your stamp at the bottom of your packaging box:
And it is done:
Now, you can do the same on the other side as well. Put your box together and, it is ready to ready to use:
Create your custom envelope
Step 1: Take your envelope:
Get the adequate amount of ink on your stamp:
Step 2: Hit the stamp firmly on the envelope:
Do the same on the other side:
There you go, you have your custom-designed packaging box and envelope for your t-shirt brand. All you need to do now is to fold up and add your t-shirt to this packaging box and start sending out these for delivery to your customers.
Summing Up
I hope that this blog adds value and helps you in making your t-shirt business look like a big business.
Remember that it is all about the little things that add up and make your t-shirt line look more professional and help it compete against the big players as well.
Also, make sure that you have the accessories (Link the branding pack here) that you have and get started!
Cheers to your t-shirts, as I always say, “Do something good for somebody, and if you do not have someone to do good for, do something for yourself!”
