Hi there, welcome to Tshirthelpdesk.com.
My name is Gary. I have been working as a brand graphic designer for 20 years now, and here I am to share my wealth of knowledge with you. I teach people how to design, market, and promote their t-shirt business.
Do you want to know a way by which you can start a t-shirt business without keeping an inventory — no DTG machine, no screen printing, and everything gets shipped out without doing a thing?
The real deal here is print on demand, and let me introduce to you Printify!
Printify is a print on demand service. But it is different because it is not just one service in one place, and it gives the option to choose from multiple print providers, and you can choose which one is best for your business.
You can choose based on t-shirt blank(s), pricing, and production time. Most of them have short production, but some may have a longer production time as well. All these are available at different locations, so if you are in the U.S., and you want to choose a provider near you, then you can do that as well.
Also, if you are in the U.K., there is a provider in Great Britain. So, if you want to use this service in Europe, then you have this option as well.
Not only that, but you also get the choice of so many t-shirts, and they also have many other products to choose from, so let’s take a look!
Alright guys, as you can see, here are some clothing options, you have t-shirts and different types of vendors:
Here, you can see a lot of options, such as hoodies, tank-tops, sweatshirts, and all the good stuff.
You even have sublimation, where you can do what’s known as ‘all-over printing’:
Also, you have the option to print on accessories, such as backpacks, tote bags, carry bags, laptop bags, etc.
The most amazing part is that you can do printing on everything, where you also have the option of even printing on jewelry, such as bracelets, dog-tags, etc.
You can also do art and wall décor, such as posters, pictures, clock, etc. You can print them and hang them on your walls:
The list keeps growing because they also have shower curtains, bath mats, beach towels, blanket, microfiber duvet cover, pillows, mugs, cardholders, etc.
One thing that I found very interesting is that you can print custom yoga mats, and that’s great!
Another great thing about Printify is that it can integrate with other e-commerce platforms such as WooCommerce, Shopify, and Etsy. These are one of the biggest e-commerce platforms on the planet.
Now, let’s see how it works!
This is the homepage that you will see when you visit Printify.
I have logged into my Printify account, and once I get in, I can then go over to the menu and choose the different products for printing. You can also see options such as print providers, brands, new arrivals, etc.
You can choose from an assortment of templates to print on, and you can print t-shirts, hoodies, flip flops, and canvas sneakers as well.
I mean, these are a lot of options, which is great!
Let me show you the signup process:
Step 1: Go to the Printify.com homepage and on the top right side, click on “Sign Up”:
Step2: Enter your email Address and click on “continue”:
Step 3: Provide your password and click on “create account”:
Step 4: Accept all the terms and policies here, and click on “continue”:
Step 5: Enter your store name:
Step 6: Add all your business address details, and click on “continue”:
It’s done, so now click on “let’s start”:
Now, let’s go in and print, and here is our catalog page:
We are going to make a t-shirt designed for my Shopify store that I made using the Shopify theme available on the tshirthelpdesk.com.
So, I am going to place this here on my website:
And this is the Shopify platform:
I am showing you all these things, because there are a few tricky things that you have to keep in mind while doing this.
So, we are back to the Printify website, and we’ll make a product, which is a women’s t-shirt.
Therefore, I am going to go to the women’s section and I am going to select a Bella+Canvas t-shirt.
We are at the women’s favorite tee by Bella+Canvas page:
Scrolling down, we can see the list of the print providers available:
This option is great, as this helps you in choosing the provider according to the production time, geographic location, or whatever is suitable for you.
I am going to choose the one from Florida, and click on the “Start Designing” button:
First things first, I am going to add my artwork by clicking on the “Add your design” button.
I can see some artwork already, but we are going to add a new one. Click on “New Upload.”
On the next window, click on “choose file”:
Now, you can navigate and add your artwork here:
I added the ‘love peace and hair grease’ pattern here, so click on the “select” button:
Your uploaded artwork would be shown as follows, and you can choose how you want your artwork; it can make it bigger by expanding it using your mouse.
Here, we are going to click on “colors”.
As you can see, there are a lot of color options available here. But, I am going to choose the black and white color:
Also, there is an option to select different sizes for these t-shirts, suppose if I don’t want the 2XL size, then you can un-select that from here:
Once you select the color and size, just click on “save.”
Back on the previous page, I will click on “save and continue”:
Here, we can see our shirt, and I am going to click on “continue” again:
On the next tab, we can add a description of the product here. Therefore, I am going to name this the “Love Peace and Hair Grease Tee”, and I have added the description below as well. Then, I will click on the “Continue” button:
So, here you can provide the retail price for t-shirts. Also, you can see that it shows the cost of the t-shirt, and the difference between your retail price and the cost is your profit.
The profit amount and its percentage would be visible on the right side as well.
Provide all the details and click on “continue”:
Now, let’s talk about how you are going to receive your profit when you make a sale.
So, to start with payment collection, you need to click on the green round icon on the right side, as shown below:
On the drop down menu, click on “payment“:
One payments page, there are two options available:
1.) Setup credit card: You can just click on the “Set up a Credit Card option“, and provide all of the relevant details as shown below:
2.) Add balance from PayPal account: You can add some amount of money and all of your costs get charged from that PayPal balance.
So, whenever you make a sale, Printify will charge you for the cost by using your credit card or your PayPal balance. Now, when you sell it on your platform, which can be Shopify, Etsy, and WooCommerce, so Printify gets paid, and you get your profit.
It’s simple as that!
Alright, we have already created our product, so now, we need to connect our store to Printify.
Click on the “Connect Store”.
Now, I am going to select Shopify and click on the “connect” button on the same row:
Here, we need to provide our store link, so copy the link to your store. However, keep in mind that you do not need to include the “https://”. Just add the link as shown below.
Once you have pasted the link, click on “Continue”:
On the next screen, you can see the message that reads: “you are about to install the Printify app”. Also, you can see that the Shopify store name in the Tshirthelpdesk store, but the Printify store name is Tshirthelpdesk.
Now, everything will get corrected automatically.
When you come back to Shopify, then you can see that the product that we created is visible here, and then we will click on “publish” here:
Now, our “love peace and hair grease” t-shirt design is created. To check our product, we need to click on “products” on the left side of the page.
We can see our t-shirt here, but it is not showing the product image, and it is because it is not having a thumbnail here:
We are going to click on our product and add a thumbnail here, so just click on the “Add Images” button:
Now, we’ll navigate to select our thumbnail image here, and click on “choose“:
The image has been added. To make it our thumbnail, we are going to drag it to the front:
One more thing that you can do is to add this to your collection, and I have selected this homepage:
Click on “save“:
Click on “online store” on the left side, and then click on “customize“:
Now, we can see our latest product added on the front page:
That’s it! We are now selling a t-shirt now. As simple as that!
Summing Up
My overall take on this Shopify and Printify integration is that it is a great service.
I mean the fact that this print on demand is getting popular and Printify has taken it to whole ‘nother level, as they give the option to choose providers from different parts of the U.S., U.K., and this is something that sets them apart.
I would say that the only drawback can be that the integration, as if you go straight through Shopify, then it goes smooth. But when you already have an account with WooCommerce or Etsy, and then you want to switch to Shopify.
It can be tricky! Also, I think that this is required, so that when you install Printify from your Shopify store. It will take all your information from your Shopify store.
That’s great, but if you already have a Printify account, it can get a little confusing.
So, I think that there should be an option, and just like anything else, it should include a login and signup option that will help in decreasing the confusion as well.
One more thing that I would like to say is that I would like to see more providers on the south, midwest, east coast, and some parts of New Zealand, South Africa, and Australia.
But I know that this will happen with time, and whenever it happens, it is going to be great!
Also, if you want to see some high-quality content, then you can subscribe to the Printify YouTube channel because they give out phenomenal information on the channel.
If you are thinking about starting a t-shirt business, then this is a great place to start with because it costs you almost nothing and, you get so much information and knowledge about the t-shirt industry with no up front startup cost.
